Quick post today. I’d like to let you know about a very special event happening this coming Friday here in Asheville NC. Acclaimed songwriter, singer and musician Jon Auer has earned a stellar reputation for his work with The Posies, later with the reactivated Big Star, more recently with the Big Star Third tribute series, and his solo work. Speaking of solo, Jon is current touring as what Robert Fripp famously called a “small, independent, mobile and intelligent unit.” In other words, solo. Armed with a guitar, he’ll make his first-ever appearance in Asheville at a house concert. The venue – where I’ve been before for other shows – is lovely and intimate. Attendance is limited to 40 people, and the cozy setting is perfect for a rare and up-close happening like this one.
I’ve interviewed Jon in the past, and written about him multiple times as well. But until now I’ve never had the opportunity to see him perform. So I’ll be there – as so should you – and I’ll be interviewing him the next morning over coffee. More details to come regarding that.
Show is Friday, Sep. 8 @ 8pm. Tickets and details here.
