Single Review: Schizo Fun Addict – “Elevation Versus Sabotage” b/w “Coming to You”
Remember ‘80s bands like Wire Train and The Cure? Well, so, apparently do Schizo Fun Addict. Because while they write original tunes, the sound and feel of their songs is evocative of that era. Insistent drumming, jangling/chorused guitar figures, gauzy production values and dreamy vocals are just some of the appealing hallmarks of “Elevation Versus Sabotage.” You’ll find it a challenge to decipher the lyrics – not quite Cocteau Twins inscrutable, but leaning that way – yet the vibe comes through. The flip, “Coming to You” is sunnier but still showcases that psych revival character. Solid stuff, and for those who are won over, there’s more (but oddly enough not these tunes) at their Bandcamp page.
