\nGoofy band name notwithstanding, Toad the Wet Sprocket turned out some wonderfully melodic pop-rock. Singles like \u201cAll I Want,\u201d \u201cFall Down,\u201d \u201cGood Intentions,\u201d \u201cSomething’s Always Wrong\u201d and especially \u201cWalk on the Ocean\u201d are exemplars of the tuneful, ear-candy end of \u201880s and \u201890s alternarock. While the band\u2019s songs are credited to the whole group, lead singer Glen Phillips is the primary songwriter. He\u2019s also the lead singer. So a solo show is likely to have a good bit of what one would want, with the added bonus of an up-close-and-personal vibe.<\/p>\n

\nTito Puente (Sr.) was a giant of Latin Jazz. A New Yorker of Puerto Rican ethnicity, Puente was at the forefront of the mambo scene, scoring hits and establishing the style. He died in 2000, but his youngest child and namesake carries on the tradition.<\/p>\n
