\nDom Flemons is the \u201cAmerican Songster.\u201d Putting the lie to any nonsensical ideas that Americana is an exclusively white art form, the brilliant and talented Flemons came to fame as a member of the Carolina Chocoloate Drops. Flemons is a scholar of old time, bluegrass and blues, and he\u2019s adept on a wide variety of traditional acoustic instruments. A Grammy nominee (for 2018\u2019s Black Cowboys<\/i>), Flemons has released five albums as a solo artist; 2023\u2019s Traveling Wildfire<\/i> is his latest. \nSure, the 1980 hit single \u201cCars\u201d is what Gary Numan is most known for. But before that \u2013 and certainly after, right up until present-day \u2013 Numan\u2019s compelling work is well worth a deep dive. His work deftly explores industrial, electronic, darkwave and more, and \u2013 I can personally attest that his live show is one of the best I\u2019ve witnessed. He\u2019s also a great interview subject, as I discovered in 2018<\/a>.<\/p>\n
