\nSure, you\u2019ve heard of \u2018em. And while it\u2019s remarkable that a band from before most us were even alive is still going strong, the timeless music and arrangements of the GMO endure. They use the sheet music from the original band, so it sounds as it should. This should be a great show.<\/p>\n

\nOf course if you\u2019re not into swinging big band jazz, there\u2019s always Thelma & the Sleaze that same night. They check a buncha boxes: all-female, queer, indie. Their sound is raw-edged Suthun Rawk. The Nashville-based group has but two long players (the latter of which sports a somewhat, er, provocative title I won\u2019t print here), but a whole lot of singles. \nScott Bradlee\u2019s project is proving quite durable. There\u2019s seemingly no end to the inventive ways in which he retools modern songs into set-pieces from the big band era and such. Fascinating and always fun. I interviewed Bradlee in 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n
