Preview: Music to Your Ears, April 3 – ABBEY ROAD

The Beatles’ swan song, 1969’s Abbey Road is a landmark album. Its legacy and influence have endured in the nearly 55 years since its release. The next installment in the monthly Music to Your Ears discussion series focuses on Abbey Road. It all happens Wednesday, April 3 at 7pm at Asheville Guitar Bar.

BJ Leiderman is well-known and acclaimed for several achievements. The Asheville-based musician and composer wrote many of the theme songs for NPR programs including Morning Edition, Weekend Edition, Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! and Science Friday. He’s also renowned for his 2017 album BJ, featuring Béla Fleck and Randall Bramblett. And those who have encountered the witty Leiderman onstage or off will know that he’s quite the raconteur.

But what some may not know about BJ Leiderman is that he’s a Beatles fanatic; he counts the fab four as a major influence, and he’s something of an authority on the group and its body of work.

All of which makes BJ Leiderman an ideal co-host for the April 3 installment in the popular “Music to Your Ears” discussion series. Moderated by Asheville author, speaker and music journalist Bill Kopp, the monthly series is hosted by Asheville Guitar Bar and sponsored by AshevilleFM. And Bill Kopp’s topic for April 3 is the last album that the Beatles recorded together.

Bill and BJ will lead a discussion of 1969’s Abbey Road, and they’ll also spin key tracks and outtakes that help listeners better understand and appreciate the album. There will be live music performance, too!

Music to Your Ears is Bill Kopp’s monthly discussion series hosted by Asheville Guitar Bar and co-sponsored by AshevilleFM. On the first Wednesday of each month, music enthusiasts gather to discuss an important album, artist or musical movement. An interactive evening, MTYE isn’t a lecture; it’s a discussion led by experts and designed to enrich the listening experience.
